Skybolt Zack is the result of a unique way of mixing platformer mechanics and colour matching gameplay.

Controls are tight and Zack’s ability to rocket punch, dash, focus, change direction when destroying an enemy and more, offers more depth than what meets the eye - following the “easy to learn, hard to master” mantra.

It’s a platformer where you don’t jump, and a music game where you dictate your own rhythm. It feels like no other game!

Skybolt Zack was born as a graduation project at Isart Digital Paris. It is Devs Must Die's first game! To learn more about the project creation, check out our "Behind the scene" video.

Launch of the 1st  "crowd scoring" campaign

On October 4th, we launched Skybolt Zack's demo on Steam, and with it the very first "crowd scoring" campaign!

By playing the demo, players were able to unlock rewards like an increasing discount on the game at release! Both PC and Nintendo Switch version will benefit from the discounts, and even players who didn't play the demo.

To unlock those rewards, it's very simple: People simply have to play the 1st level of the demo (right after Tutorial 1), and check Skybolt Zack Steam community page from time to time, we'll take care of the rest!


The first goal was a combined score of 10 000 000 points for a 5% discount on Skybolt Zack during the 1st week of release. It's been reached less than 8 hours after the demo was released! All goals have been reached by the end of the campaign and the game will release with a 15% discount and free soundtrack!


Here are the details of how the campaign worked: 

- We gather all the entries in the leaderboard of the 1st level of the game, level 1-1A.
- We add all those entries and will update the total score daily on Steam's community hub
- When a goal is reached, players unlock a reward for everyone, not just those who played the demo!
- New stretch goals and associated rewards will be revealed as the global score progresses.

It works exactly like a crowd funding campaign, except players give points and save money instead of spending it!

Every Steam account can enter one score in the leaderboard, which will be updated every time players improve their score!

Accessibility options

Play with any controller you want*! Controls are fully remappable and there’s plenty of options to tweak them to your preference, including the possibility to customize the colors of the enemies or to make their outline thicker!

*While you can choose to play with a keyboard, we recommend the use of a gamepad or arcade stick and decline the responsibility of any injury coming from you trying to play with a dance mat or Dreamcast’s fishing rod ;)

leaderboards

As focusing on scoring points and playing for the fastest time leads to very different strategies, Skybolt Zack includes 2 worldwide leaderboards: one for the highest score and one for the best times. Just go for it!

different routes

Discover multiple routes that lead to different exists across every level, allowing for tons of replayability!

There are no difficulty settings in Skybolt Zack - beginners will take the easier lower routes, only the best will reach the upper paths to unlock the most challenging levels!

superplayer modes

In addition to the story mode, Skybolt Zack offers two additional gameplay modes for an extra challenge for the more competitive players!

Time Attack - dedicated to those in search of the fastest times, providing them with tools to work on improving their run.
Score Attack - ideal for those wanting to focus on achieving the possible highest score.
